GILLIAN WILSON AND THE FORMATION OF THE J. PAUL GETTY MUSEUM’S COLLECTION OF 18TH-CENTURY PORCELAIN

Adrian Sassoon

In the early 1980s Adrian Sassoon worked for the late Gillian Wilson, Curator of Decorative Arts at the J. Paul Getty Museum. He will discuss her formation of this relatively small but utterly outstanding collection of Vincennes and Sèvres porcelain, Sèvres mounted furniture and other French and German ceramics.  The scholars, collectors and other characters of the era preceding and during Adrian’s five years at the museum will be a large part of the story.
