PALAZZO BUTERA, AN ART PROJECT FOR EUROPE

Claudio Gulli

The purpose of Palazzo Butera is to transform the art collection of Francesca and Massimo Valsecchi in an engine for the future of Europe. The fundamental idea behind this collection is the proposition that placing outstanding artworks from different worlds side by side, is a way to understand the ties that lie beneath apparent cultural differences.

Massimo and Francesca Valsecchi’s vision for the Palazzo Butera is to make it a centre for art, both contemporary and historic, and a place for research and encounters that span the arts, humanities and social sciences and reflect Palermo’s rich and diverse cultural history.
