Some considerations about the authenticity of the Vincennes-Sèvres soft-paste porcelain Naiad in the Musée du Louvre
Antoine d’Albis
‘La Source’ is the figure of a Naiad decorated by Charles-Nicolas Dodin that can be dated between 1755 and 1757, part of the outstanding bequest of Madame Thiers to the Musée du Louvre in 1881.
A number of questions regarding the authenticity of this important piece have been raised in the past. Antoine d’Albis will discuss some technical explanations about certain unusual aspects concerning this object.
