SAVE THE DATE – FPS Summer Outing 2024: Waddesdon Manor

Please SAVE THE DATE for the 2024 FPS Summer Outing to Waddesdon Manor. The event will take place on either Sunday, 30th June or Monday, 1st July 2024 (dates to be confirmed).

Dr Mia Jackson will welcome FPS members to Waddesdon Manor with a special visit of the exhibition Flights of Fancy: Birds at Waddesdon (22 May – 27 October 2024). Starting with a section dedicated to the aristocratic pursuit of keeping and displaying exotic birds in aviaries, the exhibition’s core is centered around the  Sèvres painter Louis-Denis Armand l’aîné (active 1746-1788), whose work is extensively represented in the Rothschild collection at Waddesdon. In addition to vases and to the special display of the Razumovsky service in the Dining Room, visitors will be able to approach Armand’s fanciful birds through a selection of his drawings, never seen in public before. A real coup in the ceramic world!
